The DIY from Hell!!!
The kitchen island is beautiful in the picture. Unfortunately it does not look the same "in person". The back panels are very obviously cardboard. This is not good because the back of the island is the first part that people see when they walk into my kitchen. Putting it together was a nightmare! The screws that were sent with the island were too short and wouldn't engage. I called the company and they said they would send longer screws. It took a week to receive them and they were the same length as the screws that came with it. I had to go to the hardware store to buy longer screws - a 12 mile round trip. The hex nuts fell out as fast as I could put them in and tighten them. I've assembled many pieces of furniture that use these and have not had any trouble with them. So it's not that I don't know how to install them. Because of this I couldn't fasten the side parts to the back part and make them stay. I finally had to prop each side up so I could continue to assemble...
